It’s October, and the enterprise messaging news hasn’t stopped. Here’s what you need to know in news this week:

Slack’s Latest Partnership

With this official announcement, Slack looks to offer a flexible way for users to easily connect enterprise bots from Oracle’s Intelligent Bot Platform — without the need to be technical. Oracle has been building bots that leverage AI, so it makes sense that they’d want to distribute on the largest bot directory in the enterprise chat platform space.


The best part? With this partnership comes the Oracle Bot Builder, which allows companies to configure bots to their unique workflows.


Apple acqui-hires Init.ai

 + 🤖

Init.ai is a small startup out of NYC that has specialized in building conversational apps for sales and support teams using machine learning tech. Earlier this week, TechCrunch confirmed that the Init.ai team is joining Apple to work alongside their Siri team. We’ll be watching this closely, and hoping for a business use case soon.


Workplace by Facebook launches a dedicated app

We’ve spent a fair share of time using Workplace by Facebook amongst our small team, primarily for longterm messages. In order to compete with Slack, Cisco Spark, and other real-time team communication apps, the need for a desktop app is key. Workplace by Facebook has just quietly released their first one within their help center, which you can find here. (Thanks for the tip, TechCrunch!)

In this beta release, they’ve also launched a new screen sharing feature:

Seems like a good addition. We look forward to testing it.


Remembering Our Roots

As a final update for the week, we’d be remiss to not mention another big (yet sad) milestone for messaging, which many of you are already talking about.
