Enterprise messaging corner – South by Southwest
South by Southwest
Mio teamed up with Cisco and Cisco partners this week at “The Future of Work Experience Center” at Capital Factory, during the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. Director of Customer Success, Frank Geck, was on hand to demo interoperability between Cisco Webex Teams and Slack.
Other Cisco partners showcasing their solutions during South by Southwest included:
LG – World’s best-selling brand for OLED TVs

Cisco security features
The Webex blog this week introduced new security and compliance features in Webex Teams team collaboration.
Cisco Webex Control Hub now gives IT admins the flexibility to enable Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint Online as integrations with Webex Teams.
Data retention concerns are also calmed as Cisco Webex Teams now supports Legal Hold. Legal Hold preserves Webex Teams content related to litigation or investigation, without impacting end user experience.
Admin Audit Logs have also been added. These provide valuable insights to changes made in your Webex Teams app like:
- Which admin made a change to an org setting?
- Who deleted the CIO’s device?
- Who recently updated Jane’s profile to be an org admin?
Christoper Bryan rounded up the March feature updates for Microsoft Teams this week. Highlighted updates include:
- All new and existing teams can now accommodate up to 5,000 members
- Distribution list import has
beingincreased to 3,500 users
- Microsoft Teams Training modules for IT Pros is launched
- Government Community Cloud (GCC) customers now have a better experience for transitioning from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams
- More third party integrations added to Microsoft Graph APIs for Microsoft Teams
- Personal voice messages
Slack launched their Slack Essentials guides this week. Ideal for the Slack beginner, these posts act as an aid for people getting to grips with Slack.
Covering, sending a simple message, @ mentioning colleagues and editing and deleting messages once sent, Slack is displaying a real emphasis on adoption for all – not just the millennial generation that are used to messaging in the workplace.
The guides go on to cover responding with emojis to working your way through complex threads to managing reminders for tasks you ask Slackbot to do later.
Keep your eye on the Slack Essentials area as more guides get published. They are sure to save you a lot of work creating your own training manuals.
